About Us

History

Joondalup Youth Support Services was established in 1985 by members of the Whitford Community Youth Support Scheme in response to the identified needs of young people living in the City of Joondalup and City of Wanneroo.

JYSS began as a crisis accommodation service but has evolved to include the range of services we provide to young people today.

While still deeply embedding in supported accommodation JYSS now also assists disadvantaged young people overcome their personal and social issues across a variety of areas including;

  • Short-term and long-term accommodation for singles and for young mothers
  • Accessing education, employment and training opportunities
  • Addressing drug and alcohol issues
  • Accessing financial support both emergency and long-term
  • Providing disengaged young people with a connection to their community
  • Mentoring

Within all our programs the young person is the primary client and we work from a strengths perspective to empower these young people to take control of their lives.
